An Audience with Steve Archibald

Aberdeen supporters will get a rare chance to meet club legend Steve Archibald at a major fan event in the city.

Archibald is jetting back to the Northeast from his home in Barcelona to star in a chat show at The Tivoli Theatre in Guild Street next March.

The former-Scotland and Tottenham star was a fans’ favourite at Pittodrie in the late 1970s and early 80s. He was signed by manager Billy McNeill and, under Sir Alex Ferguson, Archibald played in the Aberdeen team that won the league in 1980, the club’s first league win in 25 years. He then joined Tottenham where he won the FA Cup (twice) and the UEFA Cup before a stunning million pounds move to FC Barcelona.

Steve Archibald said: “I’m very lucky to have played for some amazing clubs and feel very privileged to have helped create the success that is now part of their histories. Aberdeen was a really special time for me; the Dons gave me my first taste of top flight football and my first winner’s medal.

“My partnership with Joe Harper was fantastically successful, I learnt so much from him and it’s no coincidence that I won my first Scotland cap at that time. King Joey is one of the biggest characters I have known and I’m looking forward to reminiscing about him and the rest of that special group of players.

“I’ll also explain in more detail what really happened in Fergie’s office when he demanded the match ball back from me after I had scored a hat trick against Celtic!!

“The Dons fans have asked me on many occasions if I would be coming back one day to Aberdeen for a game or an event, and I’m excited that I am now finally able to do that and to share some stories with them on stage at the Tivoli. It’ll be great to see some old teammates on the night, too”.

For tickets to see Audience with Steve Archibald in Aberdeen at the Tivoli Theatre on 16 March 2022, visit Gifting certificates are available - a great Christmas present.

The live show is being produced by Headline Events, a spokesman said: “We’re honoured to bring a legend like Steve Archibald back to Aberdeen. We’re excited to provide the Dons supporters with an opportunity to meet one of the most high-profile players to have played at Pittodrie. It will be enjoyable to hear his stories and we, like Steve, are looking forward to it immensely.”
